software developer & music producer
technical equipment dry hire
freelance lighting & video programmer
I programme disguise media servers (formerly d3) and lighting consoles for live shows — touring, festivals, corporate, broadcast and theatre. The work runs from building the project and pre-visualising it long before load-in, through screen mapping and timeline programming on site, to a show file the crew can run every night without me.
Based in the UK, working wherever the show is. I also dry hire production equipment — media servers, consoles and show networking — and write software for the industry, including the free openEncoder transcoder that turns delivery masters into HAP, ProRes and DXV3 for show playback.
what I'm brought in for
- disguise programming — project build, pre-vis, mapping, timeline, Notch
- lighting programming and pixel mapping alongside video
- show networking — switching, VLANs, addressing that fails findably
- content pipeline — codecs, colour and batch transcode
- equipment supply through hireJG
